What Squarespace costs by your next book
Squarespace raised its prices by up to 26% in July 2026, and renewals pay the new price. Change the underlined words to match your plan and watch it add up.
On Squarespace Basic, paid yearly, for 3 years, with my own .com.
- Basic can sell ebooks, but Squarespace keeps 2% of each sale on top of card fees.
- Yearly plans renew on their own. Squarespace only refunds in the first 14 days.
- Your .com is counted on both sides, so the totals stay fair.
Squarespace Basic

- Year 1$228.00

- Year 2$248.00

Your .com still costs about $30 over 3 years at Cloudflare. That money goes to Cloudflare, not us.
Zenpage vs Squarespace, honestly
Squarespace makes beautiful websites of every kind, and some authors need what it offers. Here is where each one comes out ahead.

How the move from Squarespace works
About an hour of your time, mostly copying blog posts, plus a few days while the domain moves. Your Squarespace site stays live the whole time. No Squarespace site yet? Steps 1 and 2 are all you need.
Start with step 1Paste one of your books
Zenpage does it, about a minute
Its Amazon link, ISBN or title. Zenpage finds the rest of your books from your Amazon author page, with covers, blurbs and buy links, and adds your bio and photo. You see the site before you sign up. Nothing changes on Squarespace.
Sign up and keep it
Zenpage does it, a minute
Sign in with your email. Your site goes live at your-name.zenpage.io straight away. Pick one of the eight templates if you want a different look.
Bring your words over
You do it, about 30 minutes
Copy your blog posts and praise quotes across. The editor splits each quote from its source when you paste. Upload your ebook files and connect Stripe to sell.
Move your readers
You do it, about 15 minutes
Export your subscribers from Squarespace as a CSV. Import them into Mailchimp, Kit, MailerLite or another provider, then connect that provider in Zenpage. New signups go to both.
Move your domain
You, then a wait, 10 minutes of work, then up to a week
If you bought the domain at Squarespace, transfer it to Cloudflare once it is 60 days old. If you bought it somewhere else, add it to a free Cloudflare account. Then add the two DNS records shown in your Zenpage settings.
Keep Squarespace until this step is done
If you cancel before the transfer finishes, the domain can lapse with your plan. Cancel only once it shows your Zenpage site.
Cancel Squarespace
You do it, 2 minutes
Do it once your domain shows your Zenpage site. Squarespace only refunds in the first 14 days, so time it before your renewal date.

Cost
In the US, billed yearly, Basic is $19 a month, Core $29 and Plus $49, after a price rise of up to 26% in July 2026. Month to month, Basic is $25, Core $39 and Plus $65. There is no free plan, only a 14-day trial. Every plan can sell ebooks, but Basic keeps 2% of each sale.
On Basic, yes: 2% of each store sale, on top of card fees. Core and up take no cut of store sales. Courses and memberships have a separate fee of up to 7%. Zenpage takes no cut on any sale; Stripe charges its usual fee and the rest is yours.
Yes, it is free, with no paid plan and no card. An author site is mostly text and images, so hosting one costs pennies a month. Zenpage takes no cut of your book sales: Stripe charges its usual fee and the rest lands in your Stripe account. It is a small independent project. There is an optional tip jar in the dashboard, and paid add-ons may come later, but the website and book sales stay free.
No. Zenpage collects signups, sends your reader gift, and syncs readers to Mailchimp, Kit, MailerLite, Beehiiv or Brevo. Most of those have a free tier. You write and send newsletters there.
Switching from Squarespace
Partly. Squarespace exports to a WordPress file with your pages and one blog. Store pages, products, styles and most other page types stay behind, and images come as links, not files. Zenpage doesn’t read that file. It builds your site from your books, and you copy blog posts across.
Not yet. Zenpage can’t read Squarespace sites. Paste one of your books instead: the rest of your shelf, your bio and your photo come from your Amazon author page.
Yes. If you bought it at Squarespace, transfer it to Cloudflare once it is 60 days old. If you bought it somewhere else, add it to a free Cloudflare account. Either way, connect it to Zenpage with two DNS records.
Yes, through an email provider. Export your subscribers from Squarespace as a CSV, import them into Mailchimp, Kit, MailerLite, Beehiiv or Brevo, and connect that provider in Zenpage. Zenpage can’t send campaigns itself, so your provider is where you write your newsletters.
Your domain and your name carry most of it, and both come with you. Your old Squarespace page addresses won’t match the new ones, so old links to inner pages break until Google picks up the new sitemap. Most readers find an author by name, which lands on the home page. Zenpage sites have a sitemap, meta tags and structured data from day one.
Yes. The preview changes nothing on Squarespace. Build your Zenpage site on its free zenpage.io address, check it, and move the domain only when you are happy with it.
