Terms of Service
Effective date: April 6, 2026
1. Acceptance of terms
By creating an account or using Zenpage (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update these terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
2. Description of service
Zenpage is a free platform that allows authors to create and publish professional websites. Each user gets one website, hosted on a zenpage.io subdomain with optional custom domain support. The Service includes a dashboard for content management, public-facing author websites, newsletter integration, and ebook sales capabilities.
3. Pricing and paid add-ons
The core Zenpage website builder is provided free of charge. This includes website creation and hosting, templates, book pages, blog, custom domain support, newsletter integration, ebook sales, SEO, image optimization, and all other features available at the time of your registration.
We may introduce optional paid add-on features in the future. These add-ons will always be supplementary services on top of the free website builder. Paid add-ons are entirely optional and are not required to use the core Service.
We reserve the right to determine which features are part of the free core product and which are offered as paid add-ons. We will notify users in advance of any changes to the pricing structure of existing features.
4. Account requirements
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Zenpage
- You must provide a valid email address
- You are responsible for all activity under your account
- One account per person; one website per account
5. Your content
Ownership. You retain all rights to the content you create and upload to Zenpage, including text, images, ebook files, and blog posts. We claim no ownership over your content.
License. By publishing content through Zenpage, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to host, display, and distribute your content solely for the purpose of operating the Service (including delivering purchased ebooks to buyers). This license ends when you delete your content or account.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Zenpage to:
- Publish content that infringes on intellectual property rights
- Distribute malware, spam, or phishing content
- Host content that is illegal in your jurisdiction
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts
- Use the Service for any purpose other than creating an author website
- Sell ebooks or digital content that you do not have the right to distribute
- Use ebook sales to facilitate money laundering, fraud, or other financial crimes
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure
7. Ebook sales and Stripe Connect
Zenpage allows authors to sell ebooks directly from their websites using Stripe Connect. By using this feature, you agree to the following:
- Stripe account. You must connect a Stripe Express account. By doing so, you agree to Stripe's Connected Account Agreement and Stripe's Terms of Service.
- You are the seller. You are the seller of record for all ebook transactions on your site. You are responsible for the quality and legality of the ebooks you sell, applicable taxes, and handling any customer disputes.
- Payment processing. Stripe processes all payments. Funds are deposited directly into your Stripe account. Zenpage does not currently charge a platform fee on ebook sales.
- Refunds and disputes. You are responsible for handling customer refund requests and Stripe chargebacks. Zenpage is not a party to the transaction and is not liable for disputes between you and your buyers.
- Content responsibility. You represent and warrant that you own or have all necessary rights to distribute the ebooks you sell. You will not sell content that infringes copyright, contains illegal material, or violates any applicable laws.
- Digital delivery. Zenpage delivers purchased ebooks to buyers via time-limited, secure download links. We store your ebook files privately and serve them only to verified purchasers.
- Tax compliance. You are solely responsible for determining and remitting any applicable sales tax, VAT, or other taxes on your ebook sales. Zenpage does not collect or remit taxes on your behalf.
We reserve the right to disable ebook sales on your account if we determine that your use violates these terms, Stripe's terms, or applicable law.
8. Newsletter integration
Zenpage allows you to connect a third-party newsletter provider (Mailchimp, Kit, Beehiiv, Brevo, MailerLite, or Substack) so visitors can subscribe to your mailing list directly from your site. By using this feature:
- You are responsible for complying with your newsletter provider's terms of service and all applicable email marketing laws (CAN-SPAM, GDPR, etc.)
- Your API key is stored encrypted (AES-256-GCM) and is only used to proxy subscriber signups to your provider
- You represent that you have permission to collect email addresses and send newsletters to your subscribers
- Zenpage is not responsible for the content of your newsletters or your newsletter provider's handling of subscriber data
9. Subdomains and custom domains
Zenpage provides free subdomains (yourname.zenpage.io). Subdomains must be 3-40 characters, lowercase, and may contain letters, numbers, and hyphens. We reserve the right to reclaim subdomains that are inactive, misleading, or violate these terms.
Custom domains are configured at your own responsibility through Cloudflare DNS. We verify domain ownership via DNS TXT records. We are not responsible for domain registration, renewal, or DNS issues outside our service.
10. Service availability
Zenpage is provided “as is.” We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users in advance of significant changes.
11. Termination
By you. You can delete your account at any time. Deletion removes all your data, website content, ebook files, and images permanently. Existing ebook purchase records and download links for buyers will remain functional until they expire.
By us. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, engage in abusive behavior, or if required by law. We will attempt to notify you before termination unless doing so would be impractical or legally prohibited.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.
13. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Zenpage and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (which, for a free service, is zero).
Zenpage is not liable for any disputes, chargebacks, losses, or damages arising from ebook transactions between authors and their buyers. Authors are the sellers of record and bear full responsibility for their transactions.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Zenpage and its operators from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, your ebook sales, your newsletter activities, or your violation of these terms.
15. DMCA and copyright
We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content hosted on Zenpage (including ebooks offered for sale) infringes your copyright, contact us at [email protected] with a description of the copyrighted work, the infringing URL, and a statement of good faith belief. We will respond in accordance with applicable copyright law and may disable the offending content or account.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of San Francisco County, California.
